Common Questions

What does 'Pen' mean?

Refers to “penetration” and is a measure of the binder bitumen grade. Most of our macadams can be supplied with a choice of 2 binder grades, SMA in 50 or 85Pen and most other materials 125 or 190Pen. The higher the Pen the softer the binder.

What are 'Dayworks'?

If you are hand laying and want the vehicle to remain on site as hot storage, you will need to pre book dayworks. This is charged at a rate per hour and begins on arrival.
